PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Special Emphasis Program on Peterson Air Force Base is seeking volunteers to become Special Emphasis Program Managers.
SEPs are employment related programs which focus special attention on certain groups that are not represented, or have less than expected participation rates in specific occupational categories or grade levels within the agency’s workforce. Their purpose is to ensure that agencies take affirmative steps to provide equal opportunity to everyone in all areas of employment and eliminate discriminatory practices and policies.
As a SEPM, you will work with program committee members to develop recommendations to enhance personnel processes affecting the recruitment, selection, utilization, training and advancement of underrepresented groups.
SEPs address the unique concerns of members of the following groups in achieving diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity in employment activities:
- People with disabilities
- Women
- Hispanics
- Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
- American Indians and Alaska Natives
- Black/African Americans
- Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals
- Veterans
Becoming a SEPM volunteer is a fantastic opportunity to capitalize on or improve upon your emotional intelligence. You will develop partnerships, learn to lead, listen to other points of view and have an open mind. This work is a marathon, not a sprint, so patience and diligence are personality traits needed to be a successful SEPM.
