On this month’s edition of Down to Earth, we’re tapping into the electromagnetic spectrum with U.S. Space Force Spc. 3 Kevin Capone from Space Delta 3 – Space Electromagnetic Warfare.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Capone comes from a long lineage of selfless service, dating all the way back to his great grandfathers.

Capone first enlisted in June 2021 as a Space Systems Operator. Unlike many of his peers, Capone enlisted directly into the Space Force during the first official fiscal year of USSF recruiting operations.

Today, Capone serves as an Electromagnetic Warfare Operator at DEL 3’s 5th Electromagnetic Warfare Squadron.

While Capone is far from home, he’s found a sense of community in the Guardians and Airmen who work at 5th EWS.

“They’re not just coworkers,” Capone explained. “We show up to see our family. It’s the best job in the Space Force.”

Outside of work, Capone enjoys playing video games and competitive sports, like soccer, football and lacrosse. Additionally, Capone stays busy by collecting vintage baseball cards – a hobby he picked up from his dad.

“We have a strong love for baseball and the history of the game,” Capone said. “It’s just so wacky and interesting.”

DEL 3 trains and presents operational combat-ready space electromagnetic warfare forces in support of assigned missions. DEL 3 is headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.
