50th Comptroller Squadron

The 50th Comptroller Squadron is a component of the 50th Mission Support Group, located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado.

Mission
The mission of the 50th CPTS is to provide timely and accurate financial decision support and customer service to Team Schriever, enabling flawless command of space and cyber systems while developing Air Force leaders.

Organization
The squadron is divided into three sections: financial service flight, financial analysis flight and non-appropriated funds financial analyst. The squadron consists of 13 active duty members and 10 civilian employees.

The financial services flight is responsible for providing first-class customer service and support to the members of Schriever SFB. This flight contains experts in their field specializing in a variety of subjects covering, but not limited to, military, civilian and travel pay.

The financial analysis flight is responsible for tracking the Schriever SFB budget. The services provided there ensure the healthy functioning of the base and its operations, and that taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and appropriately.

Additionally, the non-appropriated funds financial analyst oversees financial management of Air Force non-appropriated funds for Schriever SFB. Its role is to provide independent oversight of NAF activities, which include the fitness center and the Child Development Center. NAFFA's capability can help in many areas of NAF operations, such as inventory, internal controls and cash
management.

History
Hahn Air Base, Germany was one of eight bases in U.S. Air Forces Europe selected to test the comptroller squadron concept. Effective Nov. 15, 1983, the 7150th CPTS was designated and activated at Hahn AB. The major purpose behind the test program was to foster improved morale, esprit de corps and unify all finance personnel into one squadron. This objective was met and based on the positive results from all of the test squadrons, Headquarters U.S. Air Force authorized the establishment of permanent comptroller squadrons in USAFE.

Effective July 1, 1985, the 7150th CPTS was inactivated and the 50th CPTS was officially designated and activated at Hahn AB. The unit was inactivated Sept. 30, 1991, with the closure of Hahn AB.

Effective Oct. 1, 2003, the 50th CPTS was activated at Schriever SFB as the 50th Comptroller Flight, assigned to the 50th SW. Air Force Space Command re-designated the flight 50th CPTS on July 1, 2004.
