Peterson begins AFAF campaign

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The 21st Space Wing hosted a kickoff breakfast for the Air Force Assistance Fund at the Peterson Air Force Base Club on March 17.

The event was to promote the AFAF, which helps the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Village, Air Force Enlisted Village and The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.
These charities support the Air Force Family to include active duty, retirees, reservists, guard and their dependents, including surviving spouses.

The 21st SW goal for the 2016 campaign is set at $94,162 with weekly turn-ins on Fridays at the Stripes Pub from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The primary beneficiaries of the AFAF are active duty, retired personnel and their dependents. Guardsmen and reservists are also eligible for benefits but certain restrictions may apply based on status/orders.

The AFAF primarily solicits Air Force active duty, reservists and retirees working as civilian employees. Key workers, however, may accept unsolicited contributions from retired military, civilian employees, sister-service military personnel and veterans.

"We're looking for 100 percent contact by March25," said Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Pierce, 21st Space Wing Operations Group. "That is saying that we've engaged with our members and we have accountability."

The best way to contribute to the AFAF is to fill out an AF Form 2561, AFAF Form 1 or AFAF Form 5 and bring it to the Unit Project Officer to complete the contribution. The preferred way to contribute is through payroll deduction. As in previous years, the AFAF will not offer an online credit card contribution option, though they hope to offer that option in the future.
