PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Peterson Space Force Base has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence. This honor is bestowed upon only one installation from each of the five military service branches and the Defense Logistics Agency each year, establishing Peterson SFB as the premier installation for management within the U.S. Space Force. The award recognizes the high level of mission support, quality of life, unit morale, real property management, healthcare, security, and public relations provided at Peterson SFB.
This recognition caps off a highly decorated period for Peterson SFB. In Fiscal Year 2025, Peterson’s achievements were recognized with an impressive array of awards from multiple levels of command to include 28 U.S. Space Force level awards, 12 Combat Forces Command level awards, six Air Force Material Command level awards, and four Department of the Air Force level awards.
In addition to its operational success, Peterson remains deeply invested in the growth of its people. This commitment is reflected in the recent promotion of 1,200 assigned personnel, alongside 680 individuals advancing their college education. These milestones highlight Peterson’s relentless drive for excellence. By investing in Guardians, Airman and their families, Peterson solidifies its critical role in the larger Space Force mission.
In celebration of this significant achievement, Peterson SFB will receive a commemorative trophy, an Installation Excellence flag, and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States.
This award was established by President Ronald Reagan in 1985 and is meant to encourage commanders to foster an environment that promotes innovative and creative ways of enhancing base-level services, facilities, and quality of life.
