With winter bringing potential snowstorms and icy conditions, Space Base Delta 1 has established comprehensive snow call procedures to ensure personnel safety for Peterson and Schriever Space Force Bases and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station. Understanding these procedures and knowing where to find accurate, timely updates is crucial for all base personnel and residents. 

Snow call procedures are protocols that inform personnel about the bases' operational status during inclement weather. This may include delays, early releases, or complete closures. These measures help mitigate risks by keeping traffic to a minimum during hazardous conditions and ensuring that base operations continue safely when possible. 

Personnel and residents can stay informed through a variety of channels. Here are the main ways to check snow call statuses and updates: 

  • Chain of Command: Always maintain communication with your immediate leadership. Leaders will relay essential instructions, ensuring each individual knows how to respond appropriately.  

  • Local Media: Local television and radio stations often relay base status updates during significant weather events. Tuning into these sources can provide additional context and ensure broad coverage of any announcements. 

  • Snow Call Line: The most direct source for updates is the Snow Call Line at 719-556-7669 (SNOW). This line provides recorded messages detailing weather-related changes to base operations. 

These procedures are in place to help prevent accidents and maintain operational readiness by minimizing unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions. By following the outlined steps and staying informed, personnel contribute to a safer, more efficient response during adverse weather.
