Recently, Air Force Senior Airman Mariah Hayden was selected as the 2023 Air Force Materiel Command MAJCOM Airman of the Year, a testament to her exceptional dedication and service!

Hayden is an emergency management operations journeyman for the 21st Civil Engineering Squadron at Peterson Space Force Base.

“In the year 2023, my goal was to work hard and do whatever I could to grow and develop as a person,” Hayden said. “Along with my workload, I decided to get involved with several councils, volunteered in the local community, and continued to work on personal life goals. Each award has catapulted my desire to continue to strive for more.”

Her accomplishments include earning a Senior Airman Below-the-Zone promotion, acting as a noncommissioned officer in charge for six months, by-name requests to support strategic events hosting senior DoD leaders at USSPACECOM, leading Space Base Delta 1’s White Rope Council, and being a keynote speaker at a local high school’s Veterans Day event.

“Winning Airman of the Year was such a surprise! I was honored to be considered among the other amazing airmen that work extremely hard each day,” said Hayden. “For all of those who have encouraged, mentored, and cheered alongside me, this is a collaborative win in my eyes.”

Hayden noted that her husband and leadership have played a significant role in encouraging and helping her reach her achievements. Following this accomplishment, Hayden is moving forward as a 12 Outstanding Airman of the Year nominee.
