Air Force officials announce 2011 Design Awards Published March 23, 2011 By Air Force News Service PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Air Force deputy chief of staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support announced the winners of the 2011 Air Force Design Awards March 17. "Each winner clearly demonstrated the highest level of design excellence, and I offer my most sincere congratulations on winning these prestigious awards," said Lt. Gen. Loren Reno. Peterson Air Force Base won two 2011 Merit Awards for design excellence: Planning Studies and Design Guides: Triangle District Facilities Excellence Plan-Sustainability Guidelines, Peterson AFB, Colo. Interior Design: Aragon Dining Hall, Peterson AFB, Colo. The awards, established in 1976, are presented annually to recognize and promote design excellence. Design awards are presented in three levels. Honor awards signify the best in design followed by merit awards. Citation awards, the third category, are given to designs that possess a special aspect that also deserves recognition, said David Duncan, the Air Force Design Program manager.
