The 21st Operations Support Squadron and three team members from the 21st Operations Group were recognized April 21 with the Gen. Lance W. Lord Superior Space Operational Leadership Awards for their outstanding work.

General Lord, who was commander of Air Force Space Command and retired in 2006, was on hand to present the awards, which were established in 2007 to recognize an outstanding unit, company grade officer, enlisted member and civil service employee assigned to the 21st OG. The awards, he explained, are presented each year to personnel who have made significant contributions to the 21st OG mission through job performance, professionalism and dedication.

General Lord, who presented the awards during a banquet at The Club on Peterson Air Force Base, took some time to share several humorous experiences from his career which highlighted the Air Force Core Values.

Col. Nina Armagno, 21st OG commander, thanked General Lord for his continued commitment to the men and women of the group.

A donation was also made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in honor of General Lord's wife, Beccy, who is a breast cancer survivor.
