Albert Einstein discovered that a tiny amount of mass is equal to a huge amount of energy. As newspaper columnist Dave Barry put it: "You have to exercise for a week to work off the thigh fat from a single Snickers."

So, here are a few activities offered on Peterson Air Force Base to help:
  • Early and regular season whitewater rafting - Saturdays and Sundays, through August - Outdoor Rec, 556-3009.
  • Lap swims - 5:30-9 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 5-6 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, every week - Free for active duty military -- Aquatic Center, 556-4608.
  • Kayaking - Outdoor Rec, 556-3009
  • Guided mountain biking - Fridays, through September - Outdoor Rec, 556-3009.
  • Golf Lessons - June to September - Silver Spruce Golf Course, 556-7414.
  • Aerobic-A-Thon, - 6 a.m.-6 p.m. May 20 - fitness center, 556-3210.
  • Junior and PeeWee Golf Clinics - Saturdays and Sundays, June-August - Silver Spruce Golf Course, 556-7414.
  • Team Pete Sports and Field Day - 7 a.m.-4 p.m. June 9 - fitness center, 556-4462.
  • Spin-A-Thon - 6 a.m.-6 p.m. June 17 - fitness center, 556-3210.
  • 5 vs. 5 Soccer Tournament - 5-7 p.m. July 19-21 - fitness center, 556-3210.
  • Dog Days of Summer Dog Walk - 9 a.m. Aug. 20 - 21st Force Support Squadron marketing office, 556-4977.
  • Doubles Tennis Tournament - 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 23-25 - fitness center, 556-3210.
