Crash team named Gold Knights for April Published June 10, 2011 PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Gold Knight recipient for April is the Peterson AFB Crash Damage or Disabled Aircraft Recovery team. On April 17, the team expertly responded to a C-130 that landed at the Colorado Springs airport with a forward right main landing gear failure. The CDDAR team evaluated the aircraft, quickly installed a series of jacks under both wings and moored the aircraft while local maintenance teams strengthened the gear for movement, allowing the runway to quickly reopen. The combined team effort led to the safe recovery of the aircraft with no further damage. Additionally, the team captured and preserved evidence allowing for a fully compliant safety investigation board. Team members include: Lt. Col. Jeffrey Ritchie, Bob Schwaeble, Tech. Sgt.
