PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- For a second consecutive year, the 21st Space Wing Chapel received the 2010 Terence P. Finnegan Award for medium-size chapels in Air Force Space Command.

The 21st SW Chapel serves nearly 70,000 people in the wing's 39 units, 27 locations, six installations in five countries and was awarded that same honor last year for its exceptional work.

In addition, Tech. Sgt. Tabitha Harris was selected as the 2010 Charles R. Meier Award for Outstanding Chaplain Assistant non-commisioned officer of the Year at the Air Force level.

The chapel offers and supports many programs including deployment related ministry both at home and abroad, community programs, worship services and masses, and religious education programs which sets the 21st SW Chapel apart from others, said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Randall Kitchens, 21st SW chaplain.

In the coming weeks the chapel will see a lot of change as the wing chaplains at Peterson AFB will be changing out in June, along with the installation chaplain at Thule Air Base, Greenland. The new chaplain at ThuleAB will be Chaplain (Capt.) Wade Matuska, while Chaplain (Maj.) Tim Porter will move to Peterson and become the new 21st SW chaplain, replacing Chaplain Kitchens as he departs for Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command.
