Thule saving energy
New exhaust boilers at Thule Air Base take the excess heat from the electrical generators and use it to heat the base. The new boilers will save the base $3 million a year and 1.5 million gallons of fuel. Once all five exhaust boilers are functioning, the current heating plant will provide backup heating, a vital piece to combat the extreme cold 700 miles north of the Arctic Circle. (Courtesy photo)
