The Peterson-Schriever Garrison Commander, U.S. Space Force Col. Shay Warakomski, increased all P-S GAR Colorado installations to Health Protection Condition Bravo Plus, Jan. 5.

Warakomski detailed the new requirements for Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever SFB and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station in Public Health Directive #8.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, we must continue to adapt installation policies to ensure we protect base personnel and provide continued mission assurance,” said Warakomski noting the impact of COVID-19 variants such as Delta and Omicron.

PHD #8 includes changes to certain group activities, indoor dining procedures and fitness center policies.

The 21st Force Support Squadron, 50th FSS and Army & Air Force Exchange Service adjusted their hours of operations and implemented additional physical distancing measures to safeguard service members and the community.

Multi-person and contact sports such as basketball and volleyball are prohibited in base gyms until further notice and a portion of the aerobic equipment will be moved onto the fitness center basketball courts to accommodate increased physical distancing.

While limited seating is still available at dining facilities, the use of take-out containers is highly encouraged due to the HPCON increase

The new directive also includes changes to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Department of Defense isolation and quarantine guidance.

Individuals with confirmed infection or exposure to COVID-19 will now either isolate or quarantine, respectively, for five calendar days. Following release from isolation or quarantine, individuals must continue to mask and observe strict distancing precautions for another five calendar days. Commanders may direct additional quarantine restrictions between five and ten days to manage risk to personnel and missions, as required.

COVID-19 vaccinated personnel who have been in close contact with a COVID-19 positive case are exempt from quarantine requirements if they completed their two-dose series less than six months ago, completed their one-dose series less than two months ago, or have received an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine booster.

Unvaccinated children who are unable to follow appropriate masking guidance (e.g., children under six) must adhere to 10-day quarantine and isolation policies.

P-S GAR officials will continue to monitor the situation and adjust guidance as necessary.
