PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.-- The 21st Space Wing Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal’s F-6 Andros robot was deployed May 3 to the eastern entrance of Building 2 on Peterson Air Force Base during a joint exercise between the 21st SW and North American Aerospace Defense Command/U.S. Northern Command. The F-6 Andros, which can lift up to 100 pounds, was sent into the building after a “dirty bomb” exploded. The building had been evacuated and the robot recovered bits of the bomb. The Air Force requires every wing to conduct quarterly exercises to test deployment operations, emergency response actions and compliance with Department of Defense, Air Force, Headquarters Air Force Space Command, and local instructions.
