COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Emergency responders react to a simulated airplane crash May 5 at the Colorado Springs Airport during a joint exercise between the 21st Space Wing and the airport. Colorado Springs fire, police and other emergency responders also participated in the exercise, which is conducted every three years in an effort to update the joint emergency management plan. About 40 wing personnel participated as injured victims to assist in making the exercise as real as possible. The Air Force requires every wing to conduct quarterly exercises to test deployment operations, emergency response actions and compliance with Department of Defense, Air Force, Headquarters Air Force Space Command, and local instructions.
