Wing civilian wins 14th Air Force award Published Oct. 13, 2009 By Monica Mendoza 21st Space Wing Public Affairs staff writer PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- A 21st Space Wing Director of Staff civilian recently won a 14th Air Force quarterly award. Ms. LJ Van Belkum, 21st Space Wing deputy inspector general, loves when she can help someone find a resolution to a conflict. That passion in her work is among many reasons she was named 14th Air Force civilian supervisor (category II) of the second quarter. The 21st Space Wing Inspector General's Office has three principle missions: complaints and resolutions; emergency management exercise program; and self inspection. At the heart of the mission is keeping the commander aware of everything happening within the Wing. For Lt. Col. Rich Donley, 21st SW Inspector General, Ms. Van Belkum's ability to ensure that wing members have rapid access and receive fair, objective, compassionate, and equitable treatment is key to the 21st Space Wing's overall mission. "I can always count on Ms. Van Belkum to supply the right answers with solid references," Colonel Donley said. "Her standards of excellence are steadfast, and I depend on her to monitor the pulse of our wing."
