Colorado Springs Cadet Squadron CyberPatriot National Finalists Place 3rd in All Services Division Published April 25, 2016 By Lt. Brittany Hardy Colorado Springs Cadet Squadron COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A local team of students from the Civil Air Patrol's Colorado Springs Cadet Squadron (CSCS) traveled to Baltimore, Md. this week to compete in the CyberPatriot VIII National Finals Competition. CSCS is one of 28 teams out of a pool of more than 3,300 teams who advanced through four rounds of competition to reach the finals. Team Wolfpack secured Third Place in the All Service Division! Team Captain, C/CMSgt Victor Griswold, was presented with a Cyber All-American award for his participation in finals during all four years of high school. Joining him on the team were C/CMSgt Noah D Bowe, C/CMSgt Isaac Stone, C/1st Lt Zachary T Cramer and C/1st Lt Taylor M Coffee. The CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Education Program was established by the Air Force Association and is one the largest cybersecurity competitions targeting young people. "CyberPatriot is truly answering a national call to build a diverse, much-needed cyber workforce of tomorrow," said Diane Miller, director, CyberPatriot Programs, Northrop Grumman. CyberPatriot greatly benefits from the support and technical expertise of its presenting sponsor, the Northrop Grumman Foundation. The CSCS team, winners of one national title, competed for over three days in multiple rounds of defense against aggressive and adapting cyber-attacks. They took third place in the All Service Division. Team members are ages 15-18 and represent high schools from across Colorado Springs. Maj. Bill Blatchley, their coach, also mentors multiple teams across the states in CyberPatriot. CSCS is one of five teams in Colorado who advanced to the national finals. Cherry Creek High School secured the position of Runner Up in the Open Division. Participation in CyberPatriot is voluntary and involves training and practice sessions for at least six to ten hours
