Summer is coming, and with it an increased interest in getting fit. Prepping for an upcoming fitness test or want to fit into that new bathing suit? The tools needed are available at Peterson's Fitness Center.

Whether someone is a regular gym rat or just getting into the summer gym craze, the fitness center has fully trained Fitness Specialists ready and able to help achieve whatever fitness goals have been set.

"Our fitness specialists are the Airmen here, from airman first class to technical sergeant," said Tech. Sgt. Brandon Roger, 21st Force Support Squadron NCO in charge of fitness and sports. "They are trained in how to conduct and administer a fitness profile test."

They are qualified to not only conduct the five-point fitness profile test, but to also interpret the results and build a fitness profile for their patrons. They can also give information on caloric intake and expenditure based on the individual.

"The five points encompass cardio-respiratory fitness, muscular flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance and body composition," said Roger.

With a personalized workout plan in hand, patrons can improve in the areas they choose from basic to advanced levels.

The center offers 12 Fitness Specialists, six of whom possess advanced certifications, to better help their customers. While working with customers, these specialist walk the patrons through each exercise, making sure that they maintain proper plans of motion and tempo when weights are extended and retracted.

"We go over each and every machine to make sure it's learned properly," said Roger.

Those with physical limitations and injuries need not worry about taking advantage of this program. These limits are taken into account during the fitness test.

"If you have injuries or profiles we're not going to go against that, but we can be more creative in how we administer the exercises," said Roger.

Unlike the personal trainers who also work out of the fitness center, what these specialists offer is completely free of charge.

To take advantage of this free program and see how it can help in achieving fitness goals call 556-4462 extension 1, to schedule a visit, or go to the gym's front desk. The Fitness Specialist are ready and willing to help any who needs them.

"We want our customers to know how much we can offer," said Roger. "And encourage them to take advantage of it."
