Upon returning to school from summer break, children in base housing may be headed to a different location in housing to catch the bus.

According to Joey Sanchez, 21st Civil Engineer Squadron chief of Housing Management, several of the bus stops had to be moved during construction in housing. Now that construction is complete, it is time for the stops to be moved back to their original places.

Sanchez said there are eight bus stops in housing, each with a shelter in case of poor weather. The temporary stops lacked this shelter.

"We want to make sure the kids are safe. That's the number one priority. Number two, when there's inclement weather, we want the kids to be protected," she said.

Construction in housing has been completed for several months, but it's taken time to coordinate with schools to change the bus stops, Sanchez said.

School starts Aug. 19 for District 11. For information or to request a bus stop map, call Tierra Vista Communities at 597-7200.
