Frighteningly-good Halloween fun

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- There are a variety of spooktacular activities available for Halloween fun at the 21st Space Wing, including:

Pumpkin carving contest -- The chapel is having its second annual pumpkin carving contest at 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Cyber Café, building 1164. Put together a team of four for a chance to win the grand prize. For information contact Staff Sgt. Benjamin Roa at Benjamin.roa@us.af.mil.

Zombie run -- The 721st Mission Support Group is hosting its first-ever zombie tunnel fun run at 2 p.m. Oct. 30. The 5k run starts at Mountain Man Park and goes into the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station tunnel. Dress is civilian or zombie-themed running attire. The run is free and open to all ID card holders; register by Oct. 23. For information or to register, call Capt. Matthew McGinnis at 474-2308.

Haunted house -- The 21st Communications Squadron is having a haunted house from 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in building 1038. Admission is free.

Halloween lunch buffet - The Club is having a Halloween lunch buffet from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at The Club. Call 556-4181 for information.

Halloween 5k fun run - There is a Halloween 5k fun run at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 31 starting behind the bowling center. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be given for best dressed, first place female Runner, and first place male runner. The event is free and open to all ID card holders. Sign up at the fitness center front desk or call 556-2767 for information.

Halloween costume contest - The bowling center is having a costume contest from 1-6 p.m. Oct. 31 at the bowling center. The person wearing the best costume wins a bowling party for 15 people. Call 556-4607 for information.

Fall fest -- The 21st Medical Group is having its annual Fall Fest from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the clinic. Activities include games, contests, treats and more.

Trick or treat hours -- Trick or treat hours for base housing are 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Trunk or treat -- The RP Lee Youth Center is having Trunk or Treat from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot of the RP Lee Youth Center, building 1555. For information call 556-7220.

Halloween cookies and hot chocolate - Served from 5-6 p.m. Oct. 31 at the RP Lee Youth Center, building 1555 (for school-age youth only).
