Breakfast with Angels Published Dec. 16, 2014 By Senior Airman Tiffany DeNault 21st Space Wing Public Affairs PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Being away from family during the holidays is sometimes hard, so come enjoy a free breakfast at the Peterson AFB Chapel Dec. 24. Grace Ojala, teen volunteer coordinator and brainchild of Breakfast with Angels, explained where her inspiration came from. "I thought of what we did in Virginia at our old church where our Catholic youth coordinator did this Breakfast with Angels event for kids, and had the teens dress up as angels and serve them breakfast," said Ojala. Grace and her mother, Christina Ojala, brought the idea to the Peterson Chapel and like the event in Virginia, this event will also have chapel and base teens serving breakfast. Also, the Our Lady Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus will be cooking the breakfast items. The breakfast times between 8-9 a.m. are for children under 12 years old and their families. Also during this time there will be craft tables for the children and a gift wrapping station for the children to wrap gifts. From 9-10 a.m. breakfast will be open for all single Airmen. Then from 10-11 a.m. breakfast will be open for all other personnel. There will also be gifts for the first 200 children who come to the breakfast. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, pastries and condiments will be served along with coffee and juice. "It's still a duty and we want to make sure that even though it's going to be a really busy day and the next day with Christmas, it's still time to remember the reason for the season and be with your military family as well," said Christina. The teenagers serving will help set-up from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 23. A pizza dinner will be provided. They will also receive credit for volunteer hours with their schools or clubs that require the hours.
