To memorialize the fallen of Sept. 11, 2001, Space Base Delta 1 leadership stood with the community in two significant ceremonies. In downtown Colorado Springs, USSF Col. Kenneth Klock, SBD 1 commander, and USAF Col. Kevin A. McMahon, SBD 1 vice commander, joined citizens and leaders in a moving tribute. Meanwhile, USAF Col. David Berríos, SBD 1 vice commander, and USAF Maj. Dayne Foote, 50th Security Forces Squadron commander, spoke at Schriever Space Force Base’s ceremony, next to a piece of the World Trade Center, which is kept at Schriever SFB.

"We have promised not to forget,” Col. Berríos said. "We will continue to honor the fallen, the families, and the heroes that were involved in this day.”
