MPF begins transition to 'MPS' Published Feb. 18, 2008 By 2nd Lt. Jeremy Boeing 21st Mission Support Squadron PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- New look, new people and improved customer service. These are just some of the features the Military Personnel Section incorporates for Peterson and 21st Space Wing members alike. Formally known as the Military Personnel Flight, or MPF, the MPS is an Air Force-directed consolidation effort and Air Force Smart Operations-21 initiative to centralize personnelists into one location. This effort combines squadron and group commander's support staffs and MPF personnel, ultimately forming the MPS. The MPS underwent a three-week renovation project, focusing primarily on improving and exceeding customer needs. Some of these new features include a customer-based cubical arrangement, new face-to-face MPS sign-in area, with common access card and ID area as well as updated computers and a new phone system. The MPS model focuses on three main branches: customer support, career development and force management. Each branch supports a unique blend of personnel programs. These include: Customer Support: CAC/ID, Passports, BAS/SIK, Adverse Actions, Decorations, In-processing, INTRO and Leave Accrual. Career Development: Assignments, Retirements, Separations, Promotions, Re-enlistments and Out-Processing Force Management: Duty Status, PRP, Evaluations, G-Series Orders, Accessions, PSD, ADSC and WAPS testing. The MPS's official opening is scheduled for Feb. 19. The MPS is located in building 350 where the original MPF stood. CAC, ID and passport functions are open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays .Other MPS offices are available 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the same days.
