Arresting development
BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Tech. Sgt. Emmanuel Ramirez, 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron power production technician, lays out the turn buckles and spacers before driving four-foot stakes into the ground to prevent the arresting barrier system from shifting during an emergency landing here, March 12. The system is composed of a cable stretched out across the runway attached to a braking system that brings fighter aircraft to a smooth halt during emergency landings.
