After several weeks of work, two squadrons here have completed the installation of distance markers along the running trail that re-route the path for crowd control.

The project, a joint effort of the 21st Services and Civil Engineer Squadrons, was created to keep large formations of runners away from the fitness and sports center parking lot. Instead, the 10-kilometer trail now begins at the rear of building 404, adjacent to the fitness center and base bowling alley.

Trail runners will now begin at the trail's new starting point, run east through Eagle Park and onward to the intersection of Peterson Boulevard and Ent Avenue. Once joggers cross Peterson Boulevard using the established route crossing, they'll follow Dover Street to Malmstrom Street and proceed east along Malmstrom and Stewart Avenue toward the Pete East complex.

The 2.5 kilometer mile marker, or 5-kilometer turn-around point, is located along Stewart, where the road curves south toward the base exchange. Joggers who continue on can find the next 5K marker, or 10K turn-around point, south of the dental laboratory parking lot.
