A 21st Space Wing Airman was recently named the Air Force-level Command Post Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for 2007.

Currently deployed with the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing Command Post, Tech Sgt. Chante Capers showed superlative amounts of dedication and professionalism during 2007. According to Lt. Col. Marc Peterson, Peterson Air Force Base Installation Control Center Director, Sergeant Capers' achievements over the last year attest to her dedication to the Air Force, the mission, and her controllers."These attributes reflect extremely well on her NCO professionalism and dedication to the wing mission and to the 'Knight Ops' operations," he said. "It's the professionalism of people like Sergeant Capers that allows us to remain 'America's Space Superiority' Wing."

Sergeant Capers proved critical in completely revamping a training program into a more rigorous format, better suited to a globally postured wing. She also provided essential mentorship to a young, inexperienced crew of controllers, allowing accomplishments normally seen by more experienced units.

Sergeant Capers has completed a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and is enrolled in a Master's in Business Administration program. In addition to furthering her education, she has also assisted the base Tax Center and is a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate.

According to Brig. Gen. Lawrence Wells, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, Sergeant Capers has shown the same kind of dedication and commitment while deployed.

"We're very excited to have Sergeant Capers as a member of our team," General Wells said. "She's a superb warrior."

According to Sergeant Capers, being recognized as the top noncommissioned officer in the command and control career field is overwhelming and gratifying at the same time.

"I'm grateful and humbled for being acknowledged at such a high level and for being recognized as one of the best of the best at what I do," she said. "I love my career field and everything it represents. This award is very special to me and the people who helped me achieve such a prominent milestone in my career."
