Peterson residents can receive free TVC seeding service Published Sept. 4, 2008 By Meryl Large Tierra Vista Communities PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Along with regular upkeep of a home, regular maintenance of the lawn and exterior landscaping is a necessity. Tierra Vista Communities has developed a new landscape plan, aimed at improving the curb appeal of the community. Over the next few weeks, several lawn care projects will be taking place, including an opportunity for residents to receive free assistance from TVC's landscape contractor. It is TVC's policy to provide the grounds maintenance for all common areas, front yards and non-fenced in backyards. This grounds maintenance includes mowing, edging, routing tree and shrub pruning operations, weeding, rocking and mulching. This also includes fertilization of front yards and common areas. Residents are responsible for watering, reseeding, repairing damage from pets, and general neatness and cleanliness of the area surrounding their home. This includes areas directly in front, to the side of and behind the home, up to a midway point between fence lines or adjacent neighbor, to the curb/roadway, or 50-feet from the assigned property if the area is adjacent to a common area. Residents are also responsible for maintaining lawns and shrubbery within their fenced backyard to include mowing, edging, weeding, trimming, watering and general maintenance. On Aug. 26, TVC began fertilizing all yards in the housing area in preparation for fall. Residents are receiving 24 hour notices prior to fertilization with instructions to keep water off, leave pets inside and to remove all debris (including pet droppings), toys and furniture from the lawn. During this time, residents will have an opportunity to receive assistance with seeding their lawn from TVC's landscape contractor. The contractor's free seeding service began Aug. 27 and runs through Sept. 19. Residents must sign up before Sept. 17 and allow at least 48 hours for the service to be rendered. To take advantage of this limited time opportunity, call the TVC Housing Office at 597-7200. Embassy Lawn is only able to perform six to seven yards per day. Space is limited. TVC is a 50-year partnership created between the Department of the Air Force and Actus Lend Lease through the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). Development commencement at Tierra Vista is scheduled for completion by 2013.
