Tierra Vista Communities opens doors to new housing office Published Oct. 3, 2008 By Meryl Large Tierra Vista Communities PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The doors were officially opened to the new Tierra Vista Communities (TVC) Housing Office and Community Center during a ribbon cutting event held on Sept. 25, 2008. The new office, located in the old base exchange building on Peterson AFB, will serve as both the housing office and the community center, bringing the TVC Team closer to the residents and families they serve. The new housing office features a small community room and is equipped with free wireless internet. With ample seating, a 46-inch plasma television, and free refreshments, residents are encouraged to visit the office, enjoy refreshments and relax. Also included are four work areas with desks, private consultation areas for leasing professionals and residents, and comfortable working areas. "The new office location brings the entire TVC team closer together with development, maintenance and property management all under one roof," said Jim Mullen, TVC Project Director. Prior to the renovation, the TVC property management team had their office in family housing units within the community, thus taking those homes off the market for potential resident move-ins. "Located on base, the new office also allows our development teams to work more closely with base command, further strengthening our relationship," said Mullen. TVC completed a $315,000, 8,000-square-foot renovation to the new office facility. The renovation cost was funded by TVC and was of no cost to the government. The new office space is leased to Tierra Vista Communities for six years, at no cost. A brand new 6,000-square-foot community center will be developed at TVC Peterson during the last phase of construction, in 2013. This will be a state-of-the-art facility featuring nine offices, a meeting room and club room, a workout facility, a kitchen, a child's playroom, and various storage areas. Tierra Vista Communities property management, maintenance management and the Air Force asset management staff will be co-located in the new facility. Development costs for the new community center are estimated at $2.5 million. Tierra Vista Communities is a 50-year partnership created between the Department of the Air Force and Actus Lend Lease through the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI).
