What do you like most about being an Airman? "That I'm part of something so much larger than myself, and even if my part in the whole scheme of things is small, it still makes a difference."

Why Sergeant Schmit was selected: "Staff Sgt. Tamera Schmit is a true example of today's professional Airman. She has been selected for this recognition because of her dedication to the Air Force and our core values. Sergeant Schmit supports 1,500 Military, DOD Civilians and Contractors at Cheyenne Mountain. Sergeant Schmit has a variety of duties at Cheyenne Mountain. She conducts food safety inspections, water testing, provides sick-call and conducts annual health assessments ensuring the health and wellness of all assigned personnel. Sergeant Schmit also provides emergency medical response and care to Cheyenne Mountain, working closely with the Fire Department, Security Forces and civilian medical agencies. Sergeant Schmit is always cheerful, professional and willing to assist with any and all tasks.
