Local resident writes Christmas songs for the military Published Dec. 3, 2008 PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Angels, reindeer, snow, the drummer boy and Santa have their own holiday songs, but now the military can be added to the list. Dr. Pat Boone, Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce member, saw the need for the hard-working, deployed servicemembers to have a song, or two, of their own. Written and performed by Boone, 2007's and 2008's "A Christmas Letter from your Family" are two patriotic songs of encouragement, appreciation and love to military members from their families back home. While the 2007 song has a jazz feel and the 2008 is contemporary, they both honor those who serve on domestic and foreign soil and are away from their loved ones during the Christmas holidays.
