21st OSS denies win to 561st NOS Published Jan. 27, 2009 By Tech. Sgt. Kimberley Harrison 21st Space Wing Public Affairs PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Two teams participating in the Over 30 Intramural Basketball Tournament went head to head in an enthusiastic and energized game here in Gym 1, Jan. 13. What initially seemed to be an easy win for the 561st Network Operations Squadron turned out to be a surprising upset as the 21st Operations Support Squadron came from behind to win, 38-32. The 21st OSS team appeared to be struggling during the first period with numerous missed shots and poor ball handling resulting in scoring only 11 points in the first half. Mike Allen, a NOS key player, kept the OSS team on their toes by easily scoring 10 points in the first half, giving his team an 18-11 advantage going by halftime. Halftime seemed to breathe new life into the outplayed OSS team. Brad Prisbe, OSS coach, led his team to victory by contributing 11 of the 27 points scored during the last half of the game. Noel Tetreault, NOS coach, feels the win/loss statistics didn't reflect the effort his players make each and every game, nor does it make or break their team spirit. "My guys are trying their hardest out there all the time," Tetreault said. "There are things we can improve, but it's great getting out there and playing sports with your friends and coworkers and building esprit de corps." Prisbe, top scorer of the game, felt his team had fun during the games but also knows it takes more than one person to reach victory. "Team effort won the game and we're looking forward to '09," he said. With all team players making point contributions during the game, it is evident they are out to play hard and win.
