First Knight Published Feb. 3, 2009 213th Space Warning Squadron PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Staff Sgt. David J. Davis was selected for this week's First Knight award. This award is designed to recognize outstanding Airmen each week for the work they do every day. Name: David John Davis Unit: 213th Space Warning Squadron/SFS, Clear AFS, AK Duty Title: Security Forces Member Hometown: Phoenix, Ariz. Time in Service: 5 Years Hobbies: Reading, building models and hunting Favorite Music: Country Last good book read: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke How has joining the Air Force impacted your life?: Joining the Air Force has allowed me to be a part of something larger than myself. I have been afforded training and opportunities not available in the private work sector. The Air Force has also given me the means to provide for my family with stable employment that I enjoy doing. If you were Chief of Staff of the Air Force for one day, how would you change the Air Force?: If I were Chief of Staff of the Air Force for one day I would work to ensure all Airmen are provided with the best equipment available to assist them in completing the missions of the Air Force. This would include equipment that is uniform Air Force-wide, as well as region specific, to accommodate the varied locations we have a presence. What do you like most about being an Airman? When I think of a United States Airman, the image that comes to mind is of a well-trained professional, someone who takes great pride in their work and appearance. I think of an individual who is both compassionate and self-sacrificing, but still willing and able to fight for our country. What I like most about being an Airman is the pride and honor I feel knowing I am a member of this great team. Why selected: "Staff Sgt. Davis' positive attitude to never slip, no matter how deep the cold, long the hours or stressful the task of operating in a remote location with limited support gets to be." -- Maj. Christopher Witter, chief, Security Forces.
