Evening briefing assists Airmen, families Published March 10, 2009 By Thea Skinner 21st Space Wing Public Affairs PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Several agencies discussed health tips and information to help Airmen and their families deal with the separation of deployment during the Spouses Deployment Briefing at the Peterson Air Force Base Chapel the evening of Feb. 19. "We are putting out a lot of good information that will help families while their loved one is deployed," said Tech. Sgt. Stacy Oliver, non-commissioned officer in charge of the 21st Space Wing Airman and Family Readiness Center. In order to maximize participation, the wing held the briefing in the evening, she said. Airmen and their families received dinner and free child care during the briefing. The briefing gave families an opportunity to consider family care and health maintenance during a deployment. "I think the most important thing is taking care of families at home while loved ones are deployed," Sergeant Oliver said. "That is one thing Airmen do not need to be worrying about while down range." Briefing representatives, such as TRICARE, mental health, family advocacy, military family life, the child development center and the American Red Cross, provided programs and valuable information to the families. The Airman and Family Readiness Center provides mandatory briefings, in which spouses are encouraged to attend each Monday at 1 p.m. The Airman and Family Readiness Center is located at 135 Dover St., building 350, room 1203.
