The First Knight is awarded by each unit's leadership to an Airman who is deserving of recognition for their outstanding mission support, adherence to core values, and epitomizes the vision of the 21st Space Wing.

Name: Michael Bishop

Unit: 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron

Duty Title: NCOIC of Air Terminal Operations

Hometown: Colorado Springs, Colo.

Time in Service: 12 years

Hobbies: Sports and Salsa dancing

Favorite Music: Salsa

Last good book read: "The Last Templar" by Raymond Khoury

If you were Chief of Staff of the Air Force for one day, how would you change the Air Force?: I would implement a program where unit leadership switches places with the Airmen for a day. The reverse in roles would teach the Airmen what higher leadership is really like, as well as reminding leaders where they started out within the Air Force.
What's your favorite thing about being in the Air Force?: I really admire the health care program for dependants. The military really does a great job of looking out for its people, as well as caring for their families.

Why selected: "Tech. Sgt. Michael Bishop was selected for demonstrating outstanding leadership while managing 12 Airmen during the Ft. Carson redeployment from January through March. His efforts resulted in the return of 5,984 soldiers and 294 short tons of U.S. Army cargo. He efficiently downloaded 59 missions while covering 24-hour operations. In short, he rocks!" - 1st Lt. Joshua Killian, 21st LRS Deployment and Distribution Flight commander
