The First Knight is awarded by each unit's leadership to an Airman who is deserving of recognition for their outstanding mission support, adherence to core values, and epitomizes the vision of the 21st Space Wing. Name: Kristina A. Ryland Duty title: Communications project manager Unit: 21st Communications Squadron Home town: Fort Sill, Okla. Time in service: 2.5 years Time assigned to unit: 1.5 years Hobbies: Singing, dancing, writing and spending as much time as possible outdoors. Favorite music: I love music. I don't really have a favorite genre. I can appreciate different types of music for different reasons. Last good book read: Being in college, I don't have much time to read anything other than textbooks. One of my favorite classes in recent memory was American Literature. There were a variety of stories in the textbook, all with various meanings. The variety helps you see life from several different perspectives and see beyond your own experiences. If you were chief master sergeant of the air force for one day, how would you change the Air Force? As a project manager, a large part of my job involves customer service. There are many processes that can be streamlined to make the customer experience easier and faster. It is important to get the perspective of the people who work in these types of environments. While the process cannot be completed in one day, the seed can be planted. What is your favorite thing about being in the Air Force? I don't know what I want to be when I grow up yet. I have the opportunity to try different careers, and I am given new challenges almost every single day. I have the ability to learn new and different things all of the time, which is very important to me. You can't really get that anywhere else.
