The 21st Space Wing Environmental Planning Team was awarded the 2008 National Environmental Policy Act Award for Team Excellence at Andrews AFB, Md., June 3.

"We are considering our environmental acts before we take them and analyzing actions as much as possible," said Heidi Mowery, 21st Civil Engineer Squadron, Environmental Planning Team NEPA manager. "It is an honor. I was quite overwhelmed that we won at the Air Force level. We do strive for excellence in all our areas. We have so many successful people."

The award covers a three year period and multiple achievements across the wing. The team earned achievements in planning, analysis, implementation and environmental justice.

Under NEPA, agencies are required to analyze actions and minimize their effect on the environment to the fullest extent possible.

"Everyone works great together, and we have a lot of good professionals working the program," said Dan Rodriguez, 21st CES Asset Management flight chief. "The secretary of defense award would be the next level, but NEPA did not have the award at other branches."
