Congrats to Peterson's E-6-selects

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- On June 18, approximately 80 staff sergeants assigned to Peterson and its geographically separated units discovered that they would be promoted to technical sergeant within the next year.

Air Force officials selected 7,724 of 37,172 eligible staff sergeants for promotion to technical sergeant for a selection rate of 20.78 percent.

Staff Sgt. Tony Davis, 21st Security Forces military working dog handler, is among the noncommissioned officers on the selectee-list.

"I feel great," said Sergeant Davis. "I've been a staff sergeant for a while now and I'm definitely ready for more responsibility."

According to a recent Air Force Personnel Center news release, the average score for Airmen selected was 319.69, with an average time in grade and time in service of 5.68 and 10.85 years respectively. The average score was based on the following point averages: 133.29 for enlisted performance reports, 67.67 for the promotion fitness exam, 56.78 for the specialty knowledge test, 40.54 for time in grade, 23.95 for time in service and 5.36 for decorations.

Staff Sgt. Sheamus Cooke, 4th Space Control Squadron staff evaluator, is one of several technical-sergeant-selects assigned to one of Peterson's geographically separated units.

"Obviously, I'm happy," he said. "The promotion won't affect my duty position much, but in terms of finances, that's another story."

Also, three 21st Space Wing technical sergeants were selected for promotion to master sergeant via the Air Force's supplemental selection board.

Tech. Sgt. Michelle Curran, 21st Space Wing; Tech. Sgt. Scott Fraser, 21st Operations Group; and Tech. Sgt. Anthony Parmer, 821st Air Base Group, were three of the approximately 869 Airmen whose names appeared on the list, released June 11.
