Ten members of the 76th Space Control Squadron raised more than $850 toward a charity run/walk on Sept. 13 at Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs.

The team participated in the 15th annual Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure breast cancer awareness run and was organized by Master Sgt. Wanda Major-Barnett who knows all too well the trials faced by cancer patients.

"My mom was a breast cancer survivor," said Sergeant Major-Barnett. "Without the support she was provided, her recovery may have been impaired."

Among the teams participating in the event were local civilian and military teams from Colorado Springs, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Peterson, Schriever and Fort Carson. The event had nearly 7,000 participants and raised more than $200,000.

The 76th Space Control Squadron Lobos are tasked to provide flexible, accurate, and reversible space effects to the Joint Functional Component Command commander for Space to support the objectives of any supported combatant commander. One 76th SPCS focuses is to develop a strong family atmosphere.
