Joining the Air Force jump started my life. If it wasn't for joining the Air Force, I would probably be in Arizona doing a job that I wouldn't be satisfied with. Instead, I have been able to travel to different parts of the world and do a job that will always have a purpose. If you were Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, what changes would you make? I would continue to improve the physical fitness of the Air Force so we can truly be an effective Air Expeditionary Force. What is your favorite aspect of being in the Air Force? I like being in the Air Force because there are endless possibilities available. It is because of these possibilities I will be able to live in Germany for at least three years with a stable job and home. What do you like most about being an Airman? The best part of being an Airman is I know that every day I work; I am contributing to defend freedom for all Americans in this country. Why selected: -- Staff Sgt. Hayes strikes a rare balance between leadership and followership. He was selected to work alongside command post and fire dispatch professionals to create the first ever Installation Control Center in Air Force Space Command. As the installation's lead desk sergeant and alarm monitor, Sergeant Hayes uses his unique warrior leadership style to provide unsurpassed installation support and protection for Peterson. He has masterfully handled everything from bomb threats to domestic disturbances. I expect big things from Sergeant Hayes in the future. - Maj. Timothy Parker, 21st SW Command Post director
