According to Air Force Instruction 35-113, the Air Force views personal websites and weblogs positively and respects the right of Airmen to use them as a medium of self-expression. That being said, users should use their best judgment and remember there are always consequences to what is written.

Recently at a 21st Space Wing commander's call, Airmen were reminded to be cautious about expressing their political views. Similarly, be sure anyone viewing your posts or blogs does not confuse them with the views of the Air Force. If in doubt, feel free to discuss questionable posts with your supervisor or the public affairs office. Also, exercise a high level of caution in regards to what personal information you post on these sites and adhere to the following instructions:

- (AFI 33-100) Limited personal use must be of a reasonable duration and frequency that has been approved by supervisors and does not adversely affect performance of official duties, overburden systems or reflect adversely on the AF or the DoD.
-
- (AFI 35-113) Do not post any defamatory, libelous, vulgar, obscene, abusive, profane, threatening, hateful, racially, ethnically, or otherwise offensive or illegal information.

- (AFI 35-113) Do not post any information or material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. This includes, but is not limited to logos, trademarks, service marks, certification marks, or other intellectual property rights.

- (AFI 35-113) Do not post classified or sensitive information.

- (AFI 35-113) Do not post any information that would infringe upon the proprietary, privacy, or personal rights of others.

- (AFI 35-113) Do not forge or otherwise manipulate identifiers in posts in an attempt to disguise, impersonate, or otherwise misrepresent their identity or affiliation with any other person or entity.
