Bone marrow drive

Would you help a child with Leukemia if you had the chance? Actually there is a way you can, by becoming part of the National Bone Marrow Donor registry. In fact, Bone Marrow Donor program supports treatment for 61 different diseases from the six types of Leukemia to Sickle Cell Anemia.

Thousands of patients hope for a bone marrow donor who can make their life-saving transplant possible. They depend on people like you. You have the power to save a life. After you complete the health questionnaire and acknowledgement form, all you have to do is provide a tissue sample (an easy process of a mouth swab).

If you are a potential match to a patient, the C.W. Young DoD Bone Marrow Donor Center will pay for your trip to a medical facility to perform the collection. Military members are normally sent on permissive TDY and DoD civilians often get seven days administrative leave. Contractors will have to work time off with their employers.

From Nov. 15 to 19 , Space Top 3, Pike Peak Top 3, Schriever Top 3 and SIDC Top 3 will be hosting a Bone Marrow Drive. Volunteers will be throughout Peterson AFB at the following locations:
  • Base Exchange/Pharmacy Area - Nov. 15
  • Peterson Hospital Waiting Area - Nov. 16
  • Building 350 Atrium - Nov. 17
