Annual USAFA blood drive needs donors Published Aug. 22, 2012 FORT HOOD, Texas -- The U.S. Air Force Academy will hold its annual three-day Armed Services Blood Program blood drive from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 10-12 in Arnold Hall. The Academy's goal is to raise 1,200 units over the three days. All blood donated goes directly to ill or injured service members, veterans and their families worldwide. From the time the blood is donated, the blood will be in theater within one week to help an injured Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine. To make an appointment go to www.militarydonor.com to register, and then search for the blood drive by using sponsor code USAFA1, or entering Colorado Springs, CO in the city/state fields. Appointments are not required but are encouraged. All blood types are welcome; however, in order to donate, you must: · Weigh at least 110 pounds · Be at least 17 years old · Have been feeling well for at least three days · Be well hydrated · Have eaten prior to donating · Have a state or federal form of photo identification Specific conditions and activities may prevent a potential donor from being eligible to donate.
