Every 21st Space Wing Airman has a part in making Peterson AFB the best place to work, live and visit in the Air Force. Here is one issue raised by a concerned Team Pete member, and answered by wing leadership.

As a single parent or dual-military parent situation, is child care available in the event of a recall?

During a planned exercise or long-term emergency response, extended hours are available at the Child Development Center and through our family child care extended duty care program. For extended center based care, fees are based on the Department of Defense fee categories and the responsibility of the member.

Extended duty care that is provided through the FCC program is covered by an Air Force memorandum of agreement that is funded by the Air Force Services Directorate. This program has specific criteria for eligibility. For short-notice events, such as a recall, members are responsible for having a child care plan. Family child care issues a listing of in-home child care providers for these types of emergency situations. A list can be obtained from your squadron commander, first sergeants, security forces, family advocacy, and helping agencies. For more information, call the family child care office at 556-4322.
