PRESS RELEASE: Peterson AFB opens Emergency Family Assistance Center

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Emergency Family Assistance Center activated June 13 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center in building 350 here to assist DOD personnel affected by fires burning in Southeast Colorado.

The EFAC serves as a staging area where personnel can obtain disaster relief, contingency information and other services.

"This is a very difficult time for all our members impacted by the fire," said Lt. Col. Ann Igl, 21st Force Support Squadron commander. "The EFAC provides one central location for personnel to obtain the resources they need."

The primary mission of the EFAC is to handle the practical and emotional needs of individuals and DOD personnel impacted by a disaster.

Members impacted by the fires can meet with representatives of the EFAC team such as Finance, Mental Health, Chaplain Corps, Military and Family Life Consultants and Public Affairs representatives.

"The EFAC is here to help short term and long term recovery," added Igl. "We are here to help our members return to a stable environment following a disaster like the Black Forest fire."

The EFAC is staffed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours may be extended as necessary.
