PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. - Colorado Springs District 11 announced new start times and bus routes after becoming part of the Purple Star School Program for the 2022-2023 school year.

The Purple Star School Program focuses on helping schools respond to educational, social and emotional challenges military children face when transitioning to a new school during a parent’s change of duty location.

All District 11 schools will have new start times for the upcoming school year:

Elementary 7:50 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.

Middle School 8:35 a.m. – 3:44 p.m.

High School 7:35 a.m. – 3:09 p.m.

District 11 will begin transportation for the following Purple Star and preceding feeder schools:

  • Jenkins Middle School
  • Doherty High School
  • McAuliffe Elementary School
  • Swigert High School
  • Mitchell Middle School

Bus stop one will no longer be across the street from the Youth Center; instead it will be redirected to Hut one on Selfridge/Otis Street. This change will provide students shelter during mornings or inclement weather while students wait for the bus. Bus Stop two, Hut six on McChord Street, is directly in front of the Tierra Vista Community Center.
