PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- A suspicious package in a residential area of Peterson Air Force Base prompted a shelter-in-place order at approximately 1:10 p.m. today. Response teams quickly established a cordon and ensured the safety of base residents while the contents of the package was assessed.
An “All Clear” was given at 3:05 p.m., and no injuries were reported.
“The shelter-in-place order was given out of an abundance of caution until the nature of the suspicious package can be determined,” said Col. James Smith, Peterson-Schriever Garrison commander. “The safety of all our residents and personnel is of utmost importance, and we’re thankful for our first responders who are doing all they can to ensure everyone’s safety and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
