Traffic: During November, the 21st Security Forces Squadron along with facility parking wardens issued 74 traffic citations. Speed infractions are still a problem. There were also several citations issued pertaining to drivers' licenses.

Driving Tips: The cost of a DUI in Colorado has gone up! According to NoDUIColorado.org, the current average cost of a first-time DUI in Colorado is up 32 percent. After paying for detox or jail, vehicle towing and storage, attorney fees, court costs and fees associated with conviction, and an increase in insurance, it estimates roughly $13,530. For military members, consider the loss of rank (whether administratively or through judicial or non-judicial punishment) and pay. Depending on status in a military member’s career, a DUI could cost upwards of $200,000 in lost pay and allowances over a career. Keep hard-earned money for next year's travel or holiday shopping fund; the cost of safe transportation is priceless!

Crime Prevention Tips: The winter holiday season is well underway. Here are a couple recommendations to consider to help keep you and your property safe:
• Isn't free, 2-day shipping the best? Collect packages upon delivery, rather than letting them sit outside. Consider having them delivered to an alternate address or a P.O. Box if you won't be available at the time of delivery.
• Department store shopping bags were once viewed a potential status symbol! Don't show off newly purchased items (or anything of value) in your vehicle while out shopping, or even parked outside your home. If valuables are left inside the vehicle, ensure they are out of sight and locked up.
