PITUFFIK SPACE BASE, Greenland – Nestled in a remote corner at the “Top of the World” lies Pituffik Space Base, Greenland, the Department of Defense’s northernmost installation, located 750 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Aug. 16, 2022. Operated by the 821st Space Base Group under Space Base Delta 1, Pituffik SB hosts the 12th Space Warning Squadron, which operates the Upgraded Early Warning Radar and the 23rd Space Operations Squadron, Detachment 1, which provides telemetry, tracking and command operations as part of the global Satellite Control Network.
