Military Working Dog Retirement/Memorial
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.— Tech. Sgt. Joshua Fehringer, the 21st Security Forces Squadron kennel master closes the kennel door in honor of Geza, a fallen Military Working Dog May 14, 2019, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. The memorial display for MWDs included a dog kennel with a leather leash, a choke chain and a food and water dish inside, with the ashes of the fallen MWD on top. The empty kennel symbolized the ultimate sacrifice of giving your life for your country, and the leash and choke chain are to remind us that the MWD is no longer bound to this world and may roam free.
